TO SEE: KARL LAGERFELD ROME

February 19, 2011

Another reason to go to Rome: the new exhibition in Chiostro del Bramante. Karl Lagerfeld, the Chanel designer, also works as a photographer. It started as a hobby – photographing all those cute male models he liked – but last year he ‘did’ the Pirelli calender. In it his favorite model ever, Baptiste Giabiconi, among others. In this exhibition you will see an overview of his best work. Must for photography and fashion lovers. Till April 4.

NEWSFLASH: TRASH HOTEL ROME

June 21, 2010

“If we do nothing today, this will be the future of our holidays”. That’s the slogan of the first hotel completely made of garbage. All the trash was collected from beaches in Europe and that explaines the name – Corona Save the Beach Hotel – of the hotel. First guest was Helena Christensen; Jade Jagger and Xavier Rud do support the good case as well.

Would you stay here when visiting Rome?

TRIED & TESTED: URBANA 47 ROME

June 15, 2010

My ex-colleague Albertine van den Brink, who now works for Pink Ribbon Magazine, went to Rome and discovered this fabulous restaurant:

Most striking feature:

“The interior. Every piece of furniture is for sale. The menu on the wall indicates the prices of the chairs and tables. I’ve been there for lunch when they serve a buffet. That sounds aweful, but imagine big plates of the most delicious biological food and you’ll get the picture. 8 euro per plate.  Urbana47 is situated in the Monti area where you will find a lot of other cool places. The owners are also responsible for the restaurant Zoc22 in the Ghetto area (Jewish neighbourhood).”
