NEW SPOT: SNICKARBACKEN 7 STOCKHOLM

April 4, 2011

3 reasons to go there:

  1. Look at the little coffee bar. Don’t you just want to start your day here?
  2. If you like concept stores with art, furniture, design, fashion and a cafe.
  3. The store is located in former stables. Just like Sketch in The Hague.

November 15, 2010

3 reasons to go there:

  1. If you want a break from sunbathing at Bondi Beach – where the shop is located.
  2. If you’re into Scandinavian design.
  3. If you like this pendant lamp as much as I do. They sell it (amongst other things like fashion, gifts and furniture).

LIKE TO HAVE: CHAIR at HAY

October 3, 2010

Hay is a Danish design brand and recently they opened a store in Ghent, Belgium. So that’s a reason to go there – especially if you’re redecorating your house. They sell furniture like this beautiful chair, but you can buy cute presents for a couple of euros as well. All with that simple yet beautiful Danish outlook.

LIKE TO HAVE: ORDER VALET STAND

August 18, 2010

The idea behind this design: an alternative ‘clothes chair’. You know the one chair you throw all your clothes on in your bedroom. And by doing that you create an instant messy look overthere. Not something I prefer. The design of this stand includes some alternative hangers so you can hang your shirts and jackets over it. I love it. Design House Stockholm sells all things design. But all with a minimalist Scandinavian touch. From clothes to tabletops and from vases to furniture.

Price 239 euro Check out: http://www.designhousestockholm.com

TRIED & TESTED: URBANA 47 ROME

June 15, 2010

My ex-colleague Albertine van den Brink, who now works for Pink Ribbon Magazine, went to Rome and discovered this fabulous restaurant:

Most striking feature:

“The interior. Every piece of furniture is for sale. The menu on the wall indicates the prices of the chairs and tables. I’ve been there for lunch when they serve a buffet. That sounds aweful, but imagine big plates of the most delicious biological food and you’ll get the picture. 8 euro per plate.  Urbana47 is situated in the Monti area where you will find a lot of other cool places. The owners are also responsible for the restaurant Zoc22 in the Ghetto area (Jewish neighbourhood).”

TRIED & TESTED: MERCI PARIS

April 19, 2010

Most striking feature:

The red vintage Fiat 500 welcomes you at the door. Inside you’ll find a café (I’ve ordered the goat cheese salad and it was amazing), a flowerist and a small department store which sells fashion, furniture and stationary. So I bought a stamp with Merci on it and a little notebook.
