POP UP HOTEL: LLOVE TOKYO

October 21, 2010

UNFORTUNATELY THIS PROJECT ENDED IN NOVEMBER 2010

LLove in Tokyo is a hotel space exhibition. Uh, what? Well the best Dutch and Japanese designers create a hotel room (where you can actually sleep from October 22 till November 23) to celebrate their LLove of design (and 400 years of trade). Expect names like Richard Hutten and Joep van Lieshout. Next to the rooms, there’s a gallery, cafe and shop. The idea comes from the owner of the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam.

LIKE TO HAVE: LE LABO CANDLE

October 17, 2010

First of all I like the simplicity of the design. Second of all I like their philosophy: who want to smell like everyone else? I mean I really like my Jean Paul Gaultier 2 fragrance but if someone else is wearing it, a part of the magic disappears. The same goes for your home. Isn’t it fabulous if your home, the place where you relax and be yourself (even without make-up and sweat pants on) smells like Paris? Well that’s where le Labo comes in. For example with Figue 15 (my favorite). The newest le Labo is located in London in Marylebone Village. But you can find shops worldwide.

Price: 50 euro. Check out: www.lelabofragrances.com

LIKE TO HAVE: GLASSES at MYKITA BERLIN

September 27, 2010

I love glasses. It helps that I need them because otherwise I don’t see anything. I just received the press files of Mykita. A German firm made famous this summer because the Sex and the City ladies wore them in their latest movie. I like this Isabella frame. Perfect for the Autumn sun. But, lovers of design, we all know that specialist eyewear shops don’t look slick and lovely at all. Mykita is the exception. Check their shops in Berlin, Vienna, Paris, Zurich and Tokyo and you know what I mean. The one pictured is their Berlin shop.

TO SEE: MAGAZINE LIBRARY JAPAN

September 27, 2010

This post is dedicated to my former love: LIV’ Magazine. While we here in the Netherlands decided to stop publishing, Japan exposed our magazine during their Magazine Libraries. Because they loved it. Last week I received some pictures and I like to share them with you. To keep the soul of LIV’ alive, but also as a recommendation. If you’re in Tokyo this week you can visit it at Maison Aoyama. A must for everyone addicted to magazines. Check their site for next events.

LIKE TO HAVE: BODYLOTION Aesop

July 24, 2010

When I stayed in le Studio 22 in Paris the bathroom was filled with Aesop goodies. I was afraid to use it, because I didn’t want to. It looks so stunning that you only want to keep it in your bathroom on a special shelf. That’s exactly what the owners think based on the beautiful Aesop stores around the world. In september there is a new one opening in Paris, but you can find Aesop stores in London, Zurich, Tokyo, Basel, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and ofcourse in Australia (the home of Aesop).

This bodylotion is perfect as an after shower treatment for your skin. Price: 75 euro.
