TRIED & TESTED: LABELS AMSTERDAM

November 28, 2010

Most striking feature:

Shopping for great items on a reasonable budget. This is the place to go at the Utrechtsestraat if you want to do some serious shopping. I’ve spotted some dresses, a nice jacket with big shoulders and more for around 60 euro per item. And I discovered the brand Mina UK (what happens to be a favorite of Sienna Miller – and is she a style icon or what?) with beautiful dresses and tops. What are you waiting for? Go!

TRIED & TESTED: GEORGE DELI AMSTERDAM

November 28, 2010

Most striking feature:

The freshness of the ingredients. If you have one single doubt about honestly produced food, please go here. Order a club sandwich or a tomato soup and you will taste what it’s like to eat bio food. I can say it was my best club sandwich ever. And a tiny little extra: you can order a whole club sandwich or the half of it. Great option because who doesn’t think club sandwiches are usually to huge to digest? George Deli is situated above Marqt (the bio supermarket). So good to combine a shopping spree with a lunch.

NEW SPOT: GEORGE DELI AMSTERDAM

November 22, 2010

3 reasons to go there:

  1. To eat a clubsandwich or sip some wine and eat a oyster.
  2. If you’re wandering through the Utrechtsestraat and need a decent stop (because you really want to stay out of the ugly Rembrandtplein).
  3. If you like Café George in de Jordaan and George WPA in Oud-Zuid.

TRIED & TESTED: LITE/DARK AMSTERDAM

October 14, 2010

There’s a new sweet little store in Amsterdam called Lite/Dark. They sell freshly squeezed juices and the most delicous kind of chocolates.
My friend and ex colleague Brigitte van der Loo highly recommends their fruit in chocolate. Perfect as a present because they pack it in a beautiful designed bonbon giftbox. My other friend Kirsty Nagel, who shot the pictures, tried the Dark Chilled Chocolate Milk & Banana: ‘Delicious! With real pieces of banana in it.’

NEWSFLASH: GEORGE IN MARQT AMSTERDAM

September 16, 2010

I’m very, very curious about the new George in eco supermarché Marqt – I mean: an ubercool café in a fashionable supermarket: if you don’t like buying your groceries on saturday, you do now. Cafe George is already a household name in Amsterdam. They opened their first café on the Leidsegracht and last year they touched down in posh Oud Zuid.

Watch their site – or mine – for the official opening date: www.cafegeorge.nl
