Take a look at this pictures. Imagine yourself standing over there. The view, the fresh air, the mountains: isn’t this breath taking? And we all know that pictures didn’t get close to seeing it in real life. For all of you planning a roadtrip to Norway? Go!

Last month I wrote an article for Dutch magazine Red. Theme: you’ve booked your summer holiday but want to get away again. For 1 night (Antwerp), 1 weekend (Marrakech) and 1 week (Madeira).

In Antwerp I recommend (among others) Ra, Graanmarkt 13, Felix Pakhuis, Cargo Zomerbar, Sleep in the City and Soul Suites. In Marrakech you have to stay at P’tit Habibi. And if you want to go to Madeira I like to redirect you to the website of Eliza was Here who has an extreme cool offer of Estalagem Ponta do Sol.

Today I’m celebrating the first anniversary of Petite Passport. Last year on this date I started with the first blogpost about 86 sous in Amsterdam. I thought: I start with the spots in the city beginning with an A, but later on I mixed it all, so there’s something for every travel planning geek out there. I thought it took me a couple of months to feature all the spots I have in my archive, but I’m still not seeing the end of it… A good sign: I love all those architects, brave restauranteurs and entrepeneurs to take the risk of opening a super spot!

Some facts:
In this first year I’ve published nearly 600 spots.

I travelled to 134 of them. To Bali, Mexico, Paris, London, Copenhagen, Lapland, Turkey, Barcelona, Madrid, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The most popular post was my report about Mazzo Amsterdam.

Keep an eye on this upcoming destinations: Vienna, Carcassonne, Hamburg, Auckland, Lodz,  Belgrade, Portland and Uruguay.

Check my wishlist for next year overhere.

Thank you for visiting Petite Passport in her first year! 🙂

London is one of the destinations I love to go. But it’s almost 3 years since my last visit (interviewing Meredith and McSteamy from Grey’s Anatomy in the Soho Hotel – next to the world famous Topshop where Ellen Pompeo told me she went for a quick shopping treatment). Years back, when I was in London with my parents, so I have to be 16/17 years old, I discovered Muji in Covent Garden. And I bought the best biker jacket ever at the Petite Topshop floor for 99 pounds when I went to London after a break up.

In about two weeks I’m back for the weekend. I have an endless lists of spots I want to visit – so I already know I can’t see it all: from Pizza East to Anthropologie and from the Barbican Food Hall to Caravan on Exmouth…

Do you have any recommendations? Share!

What was the temperature?
It was cold. – 20 degrees. But if you’re renting a thermo suit (like the one I’m wearing on the picture) you will stay warm.

What was the nature like?
Beautiful and unspoiled. Snow was everywhere.

Are there any hotspots? Like a designhotel?
No. They don’t have an ice hotel. But they do have cool ice bars.

But if it’s cold and snowy, what can I do the whole day?
Enough. You can rent a snow scooter (that’s the thing I liked most but I like a bit of speed), go on a ride with husky’s, make a picture together with Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer, meet Santa Claus, go skiing, try some ice karting – or simply sit in the sauna.

When goes the sun down?
Around 3.30 pm it’s dark.

Is it romantic?
Well it depends. There are men who propose to their girlfriends in an iglo where the temperature drops down to -4 degrees.

My report in pictures is followed in the next couple of hours. Do you have any questions about Lapland? Ask me!
