Winner: C Cosmetics and Care in Amsterdam because of the Dr Alkaitis treatment and the goat cheese mask that comes with it. My skin never felt so soft (tested in August 2010)

2. Yogabarn in Ubud, Bali because of the view over the rice fields and the lovely Ayurveda treatment (tested in May 2010)

In every Bibou the ceiling is covered with paper lamps. This saturday the new Bibou opened her doors in Rotterdam. And yes, the ceiling is indeed made of several lamps. Love it! But this Bibou is much bigger than the one in Den Haag. You can ask for a feet treatment, a facial, massage or even a bye bye jetlag treatment. And even men are welcome! Prices? Massage from 40 euro, facial from 35 euro. And they sell natural beauty products as well (for reasonable prices).

According to Wallpaper Magazine the Dr Alkaitis Skin Food Facial is the best facial in the world. And I got one this friday. I must say I’m a beginner at spa treatments. Massages and hairdresser: yes, but facials and skin care: no. So it was all new to me. I loved getting to know a lot about my skin and have it taken care of. I especially loved the part where Olga brings on a combination of goat yoghurt and honey as a mask. Because Dr Alkaitis says: ‘if you can’t eat it, why would you put it on your skin’. So that’s where the natural ingredients come in. I will be back for more treatments, that’s for sure.

This treatment is 105 euro, but you can book a small treatment for 45 euro. Check out:

They give perfect massages and facials – and you can make your own skin products in here – but I was intrigued by the ceiling. How simple yet creative? Just buy a couple of IKEA lamps, cut them in halfs and stick them to the ceiling. The effect is amazing. Bibou is soon opening their third spa in Rotterdam. The other ones are located in Den Haag en Leiden.

A design sauna. I love it. There are several area’s all decorated in another atmosphere. There are Buddhas next to a bubble bath, there is a Morrocan desert camp with waterbeds (after a sauna session you will definitely fall asleep), there is a Turkish steambath with next to it several plates and statues from their culture. And there is the Eames lounge. No telephone, no computer, just you with some magazines and a cold glass of a fresh juice: closer to relaxation you’ll hardly get.

From 17 euro. Check out:

Their spa. This is the place where you go with your boyfriend who likes massages and taking a bath. Because the room is mainly bathroom and the spa (with treatments, hammam and sauna)¬†is just fabulous. In a designlike environment they are specialised in men’s skin so they have a variety of treatments. If I’ll go again I would choose the Queen of Egypt Ritual – just because of the name. Done with beauty? You can work on the inside as well. Just go downstairs to Gusto – an Award Winning restaurant with superb service.

From 100 euro a night. Check out:
