TRIED & TESTED: 3 IS A CROWD ROTTERDAM

January 29, 2011

3 is a crowd is a company which turns empty spaces and into a temporarily shop. Yesterday they turned a huge office into a beauty-, fashion- and design heaven. This is what caught my eye:

Rise and Shine Print (22 euro) from Stoer in Stijl.

All from Studio de Winkel – an online shop. I bought the cardboard clock for 14,95 euro.

I also like these sweet brooches which says ‘Mon Biscuit’ for 19,95 euro (from Studio de Winkel)

Urban gloves without fingers so you can still use your Iphone from Urban Nomads (25 euro)

Simple yet cool business card

Clothes of Es-teem – I bought a cool black vest for 29,90 euro. Yeah!

So keep up to date with 3 is a Crowd and you’ll be the first to know about their next pop up sale.

PETITE PASSPORT IS LOOKING FOR SPOTTERS!

January 11, 2011

Petite Passport is looking for spotters in every single city in the world where design rules! Okay what’s the deal: I have a lot of NEW SPOTS on my site. Spots I like to visit some day because they are absolutely fabulous, but I can’t because I can’t be everywhere. So if you’ve been to a new spot you can make a TRIED & TESTED of it.

TRIED & TESTED: TOWNHOUSE HOTEL

November 8, 2010

Most striking feature:

This doesn’t feel as a hotel because it’s like you’re sleeping at the house of a lovely family member in Maastricht. You will directly walk towards a huge orange pan with soup in it (next to it is the reception), there are hammocks in the lobby, you can even rent a fish for 3,50 euro. This is your living room during your stay. I asked them where I can park my car and they immediately offered valet parking (for free). The hotel room felt like a guest room. We had a window on the roof and it was raining, so that makes it even more cozy. The location is superb. Nearby Central Station and the shopping streets. And don’t think that the hotel is made out of vintage supplies only: in the lobby you will find all the design chairs you could possible think off. My favorite: the Eames lounge chair I’m sitting in. One tiny little personal thing: the bathroom has louvre doors and if your roommate is in it, you will hear everything. Can be a romance killer.

MY HOTSPOT WISHLIST

October 20, 2010

I’ve heard people say (when reading my blog): ‘but did she really visited all those places on her site?’ I can be honest. No. Unfortunately I haven’t won the lottery (otherwise I wasn’t writing this from my apartment in Rotterdam, but from let’s say the Michelberger hotel in Berlin). The posts filed under ‘Tried & Tested‘ are the ones I’ve visited, the ones filed under ‘new spots‘ are wish list material. And yes, as of today that category counts 178 spots, so even if I DID wIn the lottery I couldn’t cope with visiting every single hotspot. Or I will be suffering from a severe hotspot burn out.

I love making lists and that’s why I now introduce you to my Bucket Hotspot wishlist

What’s high on your hotspot priority list? Where do you wanna go?

TRIED & TESTED: STORE WITHOUT A HOME

September 18, 2010

Most striking feature:

In here you will find design with a funny twist. Eye catchers for your interior that immediately got your attention. Take the clothes hangers with a candle light function. Or those lovely cloud cushions. They also sell stationary, art and fashion items. It’s located at IJburg – easily reached by car, but somewhat outside the city. But this is a Store without a Home. If the property is sold, the store have to find another spot: maybe closer to the center.

And they will move into a new store at the Cabotstraat 1 in Amsterdam (Baarsjes). From the 18th of january 2011.

Follow the new products at their blogspot blog.

LIKE TO HAVE: FLEET ILYA BAG

September 17, 2010

Wow! I love the shape of this beauty of a shoulder bag.
It’s from Fleet Ilya, a brand from London. Sienna Miller is a huge fan and so am I. But be warned: not everything in their collection is as decent as this one. Some stuff is a bit kinky and they sell it at Coco de Mer (you’ll get the picture). This bag is sold at Reborn in Montreal. A store where they sell brands like Rick Owens, Surface to Air, Filippa K and Acne. Check it out if you’re there. And bring a credit card with enough space: this bag is sold for 900 euro.
