TRIED & TESTED: FOOD FOR THOUGHT SINGAPORE

April 19, 2011

Babs den Haring is one of the most dedicated Petite Passport travellers. Together with her handsome husband she travelled to Singapore:

Most striking feature:

“This little cafe looks fantastic from the outside. It’s located next to a museum for children (that’s why Miffy lies on top of the building next to Food for Thought). Inside you”ll find simple, yet delicious food. In the middle of the cafe there’s a cupboard full of things to buy. From tea towels till notebooks. Good place to eat and buy a souvenir. Oh, and don’t forget to take a look at the ceiling: you’ll find orchids hanging upside down. Funny!”

TRIED & TESTED: SCP LONDON

March 14, 2011

Most striking feature:

If you like the Conran Shop, you have to go to SCP as well. In here you’ll find design. From furniture to lamps and from pillows to cards. I fell in love with this Rob Ryan Notebook for 9 pounds.

TRIED & TESTED: YOUR ANTWERP

March 4, 2011

Most striking feature:

The Kloosterstraat is getting better by the day. There’s RA for the early adopters and now there’s Your Antwerp for mainstream visitors. Your Antwerp is a concept store. In it you will find lot of fashion items (men and women), beauty stuff, a hair dresser, a dj and a lot of cool gadgets. Books of Facehunter and the Sartorialist, funny gifts and accesories. Oh and they sell the Life Story book (from Suck Uk) with enough pages to tell your life story.

TRIED & TESTED: A.PUUR.A GHENT

February 13, 2011

Most striking feature:

Although I don’t have kids I can get all ‘oh’ and ‘ah’ about some kids apparel. Like these Bobo Choses baby star pants. But I also spotted some cool lamps, notebooks, cards, books and other great things to buy for yourself or a friend. And I adored their creative window.

No website, address: Onderbergen 56, Gent, Kammenstraat 89, Antwerp

TRIED & TESTED: GOSTO BLARICUM

January 30, 2011

Most striking feature:

When do you know when a gift and home interior shop is good? Because you want to buy it all. And that’s exactly the case at Gosto in Blaricum. Only open since november and the owner already picks out the best stuff from companies like Ferm Living (yeah!) and Donna Wilson (yeah 2!). I liked the corq coasters, the candle sticks, the bird cushion, the Muuto lamp, the small mugs… well check it out for yourself. And if you don’t live in Blaricum, but let’s say, in Groningen, you can order everything in her webshop as well.

  3. Or to buy something for yourself as a mummy.

The legging on the photo is from Danish designer Kristine Mandsberg and costs 33 euro.

TRIED & TESTED: KIDEKU MAASTRICHT

November 13, 2010

Most striking feature:

Everything in here brings a smile on your face. I quess the owner only search for things that makes her smile. And brings it all together. I spotted a gun vase, funny cards, a streetstyle memory game, lovely shirts for children and a lot of other things. Be prepared to spent at least 20 minutes scanning all her novelties. The interior is not design at all: she even has dressdolls in her store which are a bit creepy. But it’s a perfect address for presents.

LIKE TO HAVE: KARL LAGERFELD TEA

November 2, 2010

Les Fleurs in Paris is a shop with all things fun to give. Not that expensive, a lot of jewelry, but also home decoration and beautiful bags. If you’re in Paris, make sure to stop by. But they have an online shop as well. And that’s where I spotted this lovely things. To start with the rabbit cushion (59 euro), which would complete my couch. The owl is a peephole for your door (10 euro) and Karl Lagerfeld relaxes in your tea. If you buy the Fashion tea pack, you can have tea with Donatella Versace, Yves Saint Laurent and Naomi Campbell (9 euro).

LIKE TO HAVE: ART from ROOM6 VANCOUVER

August 21, 2010

If you wake up with a grumpy mood just look up to this saying and you’ll definitely smile. I do. This is one of the pieces of art Room6 sells. But they sell more: stationary, books, children’s toys, home decor and gifts. And the shop owner has a lot of humour (just look at the notes on their front door). Piece of art from Shelli Dorf: 22 euro.

TRIED & TESTED: AUFSCHNITT BERLIN

August 16, 2010

Contributor Albertine van den Brink is a huge fan of Berlin and, shame on me, there isn’t much about that city on my site yet. So she gave me another must-visit:

Most striking feature:

“It looks like this store is a butcher, but it isn’t. Alright, the girl of Aufschnitt makes sausages and ham, but not of meat, but from fabric. She’s running the store, but usually sits behind her sewing machine making new ‘meat’. You can buy a bean bag for 275 euro, but the best souvenir is this Curry würst set. Price: 29,90. Take a look at this website for some images of  the designer in her pop up shop during a designer market.”
