TRIED & TESTED: DESIGNHOTELS BOOK

April 18, 2011

The best birthday gift this year was my copy of the new Designhotels book. Why? Because it’s filled with the 200 best hotels in the world – all with the design factor. I love browsing through it on a sunday morning. Thinking of where to go next. Last year I’ve been to Playa del Carmen and missed the Be Playa hotel – but God, do I love the outlook. The book is divided in the continents: so you can quickly leaf through Europe for example. A perfect gift for everyone who loves travelling with a design twist. Price: 42,99 by Bol.com

LIKE TO HAVE: BOOKS BY DESIGN HOTELS

February 14, 2011

Oh my God… I try to save for a Jerome Dreyfuss bag but now Design Hotels comes with two books I have to have. Take a look at their cover. Beautiful design. Simple with a good typography. And then the cardboard case (only for the limited edition books). Inside the Green One you will find all of the 200 Design Hotels. I have their 2010 book and it’s the perfect start of a sunday morning (thinking of where to go next). Inside the Illustration Cover you will find the behind the scenes stories of all the creators, architects and other driving forces behind the hotels we love so much. Thank God, my Birthday is coming up…

Price: 44 euro (or 69 euro for the limited edition), check out: www.designhotels.com/shop

NEW SPOT: BOCA CHICA ACAPULCO

July 28, 2010

3 reasons to stay here:

  1. Because they have pink pool chairs – and that’s something every girl loves.
  2. Because the whole atmoshphere (from the outside bar to the swimming pool) feels like you’re in a filmset of the 50’s.
  3. Because every room has it own hammock. We have to say that’s quite common in Mexico, but still… love it!

From 73 euro a night, check out: www.hotel-bocachica.com

Have you been here? What would be your reason to go?

TRIED & TESTED: CARBON HOTEL GENK

July 18, 2010

Most striking feature:

Their spa. This is the place where you go with your boyfriend who likes massages and taking a bath. Because the room is mainly bathroom and the spa (with treatments, hammam and sauna) is just fabulous. In a designlike environment they are specialised in men’s skin so they have a variety of treatments. If I’ll go again I would choose the Queen of Egypt Ritual – just because of the name. Done with beauty? You can work on the inside as well. Just go downstairs to Gusto – an Award Winning restaurant with superb service.

From 100 euro a night. Check out: www.carbonhotel.com
