Can we change that question in: ‘where do you want to go on a lovers trip?’ I’ve to admit that this is the most romantic spot I’ve seen during my trip to Mexico in March. Tulum consists of a strip of hotels – all directly on the beach. The more you drive to the south, the more beautiful the hotels (and the beach looks more unspoiled and the water even more clear). I didn’t stay at Be Tulum (I visited Mexico with two girls and this is more a place to go with your boyfriend), but we had dinner in their lovely restaurant. The service is superb – and the strawberry dessert we tried was delicious. The rooms were pretty, spacious and all included a plunge pool.

(I used the professional photos of where you can book this hotel, the photo at the bottom is mine)

3 reasons to stay here:

  1. Well look at it. Aren’t you dying to stay here? Far away from the real world – together with birds and your own breath.
  2. You won’t get closer by the South Pole. Especially not in a designhotel.
  3. If you like sauna’s. There is one in a tree.

From 372 euro per night. Check out:

3 reasons to stay here:

  1. Because of the rooftop cinema – seeing a movie on their rooftop with views over Brisbane.
  2. If you like to be around the coolest clubs and restaurants in the city.
  3. Choose for a courtyard room if you like to celebrate your own Mexican feeling with an hammock on the balconny.

From 195 euro a night. Check out:

The hotel extra’s. It is a beautiful designhotel but what makes it a special location are the extra’s. For example you have a fragrance burner in your room. Around 3 pm every hotel guest can collect a cup of herbal tea with something sweet next to it. And on monday and friday they arrange a free yoga lesson. Of course I joined and with the view of the ocean there isn’t anything more stimulating. Not the smell of stinky socks when you inhale, but the lovely smell of the ocean. The Leisure Concierge takes care of the rest: adventurous daytrips, sportive bicycle rides or joining the cooking school.

The 15 rooms. Basic as Gwyneth Paltrow without make-up. You can see the electricity cabels and the water taps running. The curtains are made of rubber and the¬†floor in the lobby is made of old tyres. The rooms all have floor-length windows so if you like being watched, you will like it here. If you’re not staying here, you can also come up for a cheap lunch.

From 100 euro a night. Check out:

  1. If you like the color pink, who doesn’t? Well boys. Leave them at home and get your girlfriends to Athens for a psychedelic citytrip.
  2. If you love designer Karim Rashid. It’s his design.
  3. If you don’t stay here, just go to the pool at sunday for an afternoon brunch.

3, uhm make it 6, reasons to stay at Hotel Michelberger:

  1. Because of the design.
  2. Because of the rooms. All of them are different, all of them are fabulous.
  3. Because if you are citytrippin’ with a group of friends they have one cool room for all of you together.
  4. Because it is located in a very cool neighbourhood (Friedrichshain).
  5. Because they lobby is quite happening with bands playing there.
  6. Because the rate per night starts at 59 euro.
