When I started PP almost a year ago, I thought blogging was all about writing. Just like I do for the magazines. But there’s a huge difference. I never got a reaction when I worked for LIV’, when I wrote a personal story in ELLE (okay, 1 reaction) or when I wrote the Hotspot Guide for VIVA. Blogging is about getting a reaction. From a lovely reader, from someone who wants to help you with a business card or from another magazine who like you to feature their travel stories. You start with an online connection and end up meeting in real life. Lise M is the creative director of Urban Style Vibes: a blog about design, travel and more. This summer she will organise a Meet the Blogger event in Amsterdam. A great initiative. She invited me as well – and if I’m not on the road I will definitely be there.

Dear reader of Petite Passport,

Today is the day I’ve reached 10.000 visitors per month on my blog. I can’t describe how grateful I am that you all come and visit Petite Passport. I’m doing what I love most – writing about cool design places in the world and dreaming about going there someday. I love the idea that my recommendations of cool restaurants, shops and hotels inspire you to go to there. That’s what keeps my heart pounding – even after a hard day of work I get energy of writing the 2 spots a day.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

xx Pauline

3 reasons to go there:

  1. For a good cup of coffee.
  2. For a sandwich or something sweet.
  3. If you’re staying at Daddy Long Legs on the same street.

Website isn’t working. Address: 175 Long Street, Cape Town

If you’re going to Australia you usually choose for Sydney, Melbourne, the Great Ocean Road, the East Coast and maybe Ayer’s Rock. Perth is a bit discriminated because it’s quite far from the East of this continent. Wait till you surf down to Nook & Cranny. A very inspiring website about all the great spots in Perth. You definitely want to change your itinerary right now! A selection of their spots:

Flipside Burger Bar

Pigeonhole Shafto Lane

Pigeonhole London Court
