TRIED & TESTED: ESPOO ANTWERP

February 7, 2011

Most striking feature:

10 Muuto lamps together. Isn’t that what we all want in our homes? But there’s more in this Nordic inspired home decoration shop. Cool cushions of Hay, stickers of Ferm Living,  glasses of Norman Copenhagen. I’ve spotted a great cupboard for my books in soft colors like pink, blue and white. The perfect shop for gifts – but also if you want to give your home that Nordic extra. Located in ‘t Zuid.

TRIED & TESTED: STORM ANTWERP

February 6, 2011

Most striking feature:

It’s located underneath the MAS. A new museum which opens in May. The museum is about Antwerp and it’s port, but it’s nearby Felix Pakhuis so this area of Antwerp – called ‘t Eilandje – is getting hotter by the day. The interior is simple but fantastic. Green with wooden elements. You can go there for lunch, dinner of just some drinks. In summer they open a terrace.

NEW SPOT: CAFE STORM ANTWERP

February 2, 2011

3 reasons to go there:

  1. To see the new museum (open in may 2011).
  2. To see something of the area called ‘t Eilandje.
  3. To lunch or dine with a view. Or to sit at their terrace in summer.

NEWSFLASH: MAGNOLIA GOES POP UP

January 26, 2011

Magnolia in Antwerp is just like AF VandeVorst with their Guerilla Aktion Stores going into a pop up business. Not only Antwerp, but also Gent, Brussels and Hasselt can expect a temporarily Magnolia store. Magnolia is all about beauty. They sell special brands which aren’t sold everywhere. Like Laura Mercier and Malin + Goetz.

LIKE TO HAVE: UNITED STATES OF BELGIUM

December 6, 2010

My friend and stylist Kirsty Nagel spotted this cool sweater at Kayo in Antwerp:

We all love a good souvenir. But souvenirs are the most tacky things in the world (apart from the I love New York shirt). I mean: why bother to buy a Mexican hat or a Cuban sigar? We want our souvenirs to be a bit fashionable. To show our friends and say: ‘look how cool Belgium is’. The sweaters with the text United States of Belgium are doing that job. I don’t know the price, but you can buy it at Kayo: the coolest kidsstore in Antwerp.

LIKE TO HAVE: AN ALLSAINTS WARDROBE

November 25, 2010

I fell in love with All Saints when I was in London a couple of years ago. I visited their flagshipstore in Spitalfields and loved the soft fabric and the twisted details. For a moment I thought of Rick Owens – but that’s impossible for that prices. It’s a bit rough – not for the girly, girly type of woman. On this wednesdaynight I did some online shopping and these are my favorites:

Clockwise, from left to right:

1. Jumper (cool with a leather legging): 295 euro
2. Scarf: 47 euro
3. Top: 55 euro
4. Denim short: 59 euro
5. The most beautiful purse ever: 59 euro
6. Leather skinny jeans: 177 euro

LIKE TO HAVE: BABY GROW of PAUL SMITH

November 17, 2010

My friend Kirsty Nagel visited Antwerp this weekend and spotted these cute baby romper suits from Paul Smith (56 euro). I love the buttons on the back, and at the front there’s a picture of a bottle of milk. Lovely! Available at Clinic Antwerp.

No website,  de Burburestraat 5, Antwerp

LIKE TO HAVE: LINGERIE WITH STARS ON IT

November 3, 2010

If you’ve been to Paris, you know that you’ll find a Princess Tam Tam on every street corner. I love their lingerie. Because, sorry big breasted girls, they sell pretty bras in small sizes. And that’s a hard thing to find in the Netherlands. I like their new serie with stars on it. And in summer I want to have every bikini. Check it out when you’re in Paris.

LIKE TO HAVE: JUMPER of LES PETITES…

September 24, 2010

Les Petites… is an extremely popular fashion brand from Paris. Recently they opened a store in Antwerp (Lombardenvest 22). I’ve browsed through their e-shop and find this amazing pull. They combine it with a short skit – I would with my newly bought leather legging. Price: 175 euro.

LIKE TO HAVE: HOBBELPAARD at KAYO ANTWERP

September 11, 2010

Even though I don’t have kids I like shopping at (some) kids stores. The ones where you fall in love with all the cute clothes and toys. Kayo is the store in Antwerp to ‘feed’ your fashionable child. They have clothes (for example Finger in the Nose), but also books, furniture and toys. Perfect inspiration if you’re pregnant – but definitely a money killer if you already have some children: you want to have it all! And if you’re looking for an originel yet fashionable present, then this is the store for you as well.

Have you been there? And what did you buy?
